It’s the most wonderful time of the year
CMJ starts today, the yearly tradition which draws a ton of music to an already saturated New York music market. As poverty is in constant danger of rearing its head, I had already planned to hit predominately free shows and have built my schedule around that.
Here’s what I’ve got going on
Tuesday:
New Zealand @ CMJ, this is a free event at The Red Bull Space concentrating on bands from NZ, many of which I’m unfamiliar with, but my main reason for going is to catch Die! Die! Die! a band that confused the hell out of the audience for Wolfmother when they opened for that band in DC a few years ago.
Wed:
Glasslands to catch one of my favorite pop bands, Hot Lava out of Richmond, VA.
Thursday:
Brooklyn Vegan Day party @ Pianos while seeing Japandroids and Real Estate @ Glasslands that night
Friday:
Brooklyn Vegan Day party to catch Duchess Says then the non-CMJ event of Dickchicken’s first gallery showing and then back out to catch Felix Cartal at Webster Hall
Saturday:
Eula will be performing and as you can tell by my enthusiastic review last week, I am really looking forward to seeing them at Shae Stadium, then my evening is booked due to a previous engagement (alas).
Sunday will probably be a much needed day of sleep.
